Austrian American Benevolent Association

My grandfather, Spiro Raicevich, is behind the little girl. The photo was taken around Gough Street, as building with the flagpole was an agency for the Millbrae Diary and was listed at Fulton and Gough.

Note the crown in the flag, that of the Austro Hungarian Empire.

When I was around ten years old, circa 1932, I remember going to the Christmas parties of the lodge, I believe on Golden Gate Avenue. I don't know what happened to Austrian American Benevolent Association

Grandpa died in 1942. He was 89 years old. He is buried at Holy Cross in Colma, next to his wife, Lily Crane. She was the daughter of Encarnacion Ortega. (Read her Sanchez File?)
