Santa Barbara Earthquake of June 29, 1925

Arlington Hotel

This long and artistically angled building in Mission architecture was among the hotels most seriously affected by the tremor. The chief loss was the eastern tower, which broke from the main structure and fell into a tangled heap. Two persons lost their lives.

A Santa Barbara company, including Col. W. W. Hollister, father of State Senator James Hollister, founded the Arlington in 1876.
