Santa Barbara Earthquake of June 29, 1925 Santa Barbara Library Building
Opened in August 1917. Cost $101,000, of which $50,000 came from the Carnegie Corporation and the remainder from the City of Santa Barbara. Francis Wilson, architect and Henry Hornbostel, consulting architect. The tremor caused $50,000 loss. Only slight damage was done to the facade, and the entrance feature, designed by Carleton M. Winslow, and executed by Marshall Laird in 1924, was not injured. Picture shows the west wall. |
