1852 County
The only county bond ever issued. San Francisco County had extended to the Santa Clara County line, but the people living outside the city limits did not like being controlled by city politicians and got the State Legislature to pass the Consolidation Act.
The territory outside the city became San Mateo County and the City and County of San Francisco was formed; the Board of Supervisors acting also as a city council, just as they do today.
