Bonds of the City and County of San Francisco 1851-1908 1873 Montgomery Avenue (Columbus Ave.) $1,500,000 These bonds were issued for the extension of Montgomery at its Northern terminus. As it was to be a diagonal road, where none had existed, it required the taking of extensive private property. The owners objected and took the City to court. The City eventually won. The name of the street was changed to Columbus Avenue.
